John Adams PTSA: GIVE TO THE MAX

Dear JA Families,

John Adams PTSA will be doing its one and only fundraiser of the year, Give To The Max.

Each year, the PTSA makes an effort to raise funds to support classroom enrichment and school-wide activities for all families throughout the year! This includes:

-Classroom equipment and enhancements

-PE equipment

-Student Recognition and Awards

-Breakfast of Champions

-Student of the Month Celebrations

-PAW Store & P.U.G.S. (Pop Up Giving Shop)

-8th Grade Recognition

-Staff Appreciation

Give to the Max is a simple donation to make a big impact for our students, teachers, and community. This year, we set our goal for $15,000, which is just under $16/student. If we reach our goal, we will celebrate with an All School Hot Chocolate Party!

Your child’s academic success is directly related to your involvement in his or her education and communication with our staff. We would like to invite you and your family to our next event Thursday, November 25th. John Adams Middle School receives federal Title I funding, which helps us make sure every child has access to a high-quality education. THANK YOU!

 

John Adams 8th Grade Parents

The High School Registration process is beginning this month, and here is the timeline and information about the process. The registration guide can be found here for specific class information: https://catalog.rochesterschools.org/app/web/index.xhtml

Students will begin learning about high school credits, electives and how to use the Xello course planner during the month of November. These videos will be shown during either their 21st Century or Art class. The timeline for the registration process is:

Tuesday, December 2 - High school counselors will come to John Adams and present to 8th graders during their Social Studies class. At this time they will be given a paper registration form to bring home.

HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION GUIDE
 

JOHN ADAMS MUSICAL: Pirates of Penzance Jr.

AUDITIONS for John Adams’ Musical play "PIRATES OF PENZANCE Jr." will take place December 8th, 9th and 10th, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Auditorium at 6:00 pm.

MONDAY December 8th -SINGING Auditions

TUESDAY December 9th - SPEAKING  Auditions

WEDNESDAY December 10th - CALLBACK Auditions

SINGING Auditions: Anyone who wishes  to have a solo singing part OR be in the chorus needs to audition on MONDAY. Be prepared to sing “Happy Birthday” or “Silent Night” or songs from this play. If you wish to sing another song, bring piano music for the pianist.

SPEAKING Auditions: Anyone who wants a speaking part needs to also come on TUESDAY. Most speaking parts sing in the chorus or sing a solo or solos.

CALL BACK Auditions: There will be a list of names posted on the Auditorium door on WEDNESDAY morning. These students need to audition again WEDNESDAY at 6:00 pm.

All auditions start at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium. Once you audition, you are free to leave. PLEASE BE ABLE TO LIST ALL CONFLICTS YOU HAVE BETWEEN 6:00 and 8:00 pm. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, such as piano lessons or sports activities.

All rehearsals and performances are in the John Adams Auditorium. There will be 2 evening performances, Thursday and Friday,, March 19th and 20th at 7:00 pm.

There is a $5 admission charge per person for the evening performances. Anyone cast in the play must be available for BOTH performances.

There is a $20 ACTIVITY FEE charged to all students who are in the play. This is a school district activity fee and will need to be paid the FIRST WEEK of rehearsals. Checks are made out to John Adams Middle School. Cash is also fine, but please put it in an envelope with your name on it. Please bring your activity fee to the MAIN OFFICE during the school day the first week of rehearsals.
